About Tradivior

Tradivior is an evidence-led cultural discovery and investigative publication exploring the reasons behind human traditions.

Our central question is simple to ask and difficult to answer: when a practice survives across generations, what was it originally for—and what, if anything, survives modern scrutiny?

Tradition without romanticising it

Human traditions can preserve practical knowledge, social memory, religious meaning, identity, habit, power, symbolism, adaptation and sometimes error. Tradivior does not begin with the assumption that an old practice must contain hidden science. Nor do we assume that tradition is merely superstition waiting to be debunked.

Instead, each investigation separates questions that are often blurred together: Did the practice genuinely exist? What did historical practitioners say they were doing? Is there a plausible modern mechanism? What does experimental evidence show? Is there evidence that the mechanism was historically understood, or is that a modern reinterpretation? What relevance, if any, remains today?

A global publication with South Asia as a major foundation

India and South Asia contain extraordinarily rich living traditions and form an important part of Tradivior’s editorial foundation. But human tradition is global. We investigate practices from East and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Mediterranean, the Americas, Oceania, Indigenous communities and cross-cultural phenomena that appear in very different societies.

What an investigation should do

A Tradivior article is intended to be an investigation rather than a summary. Historical claims are checked against appropriate historical or cultural evidence. Scientific claims are evaluated against modern research. The two are kept distinct: a study showing that a practice can produce an effect today does not prove that ancient people adopted it because they understood the modern mechanism.

Evidence Profiles

Substantive investigations use a multidimensional Evidence Profile covering Historical Authenticity, Original-Purpose Evidence, Scientific Mechanism, Experimental Evidence, Cross-Cultural Evidence and Modern Relevance. Ratings are qualitative—such as Strong, Moderate, Limited, Inconclusive, Unsupported or N/A—because evidence is rarely captured responsibly by a single score.

Editorial independence

Tradivior is not a religious advocacy platform, an anti-religion platform, a wellness marketing site or a pseudoscience publication. Cultural and religious traditions are described respectfully, while factual claims remain open to scrutiny. Conclusions are not popularity contests and are not determined by whether a finding is flattering to a tradition.

Authorship

Tradivior investigations are published under the editorial authorship of Aadvik Agastya. Sources, updates and corrections are documented as part of the publication’s commitment to transparency.

A living project

Evidence changes. Historical discoveries alter interpretation. Better studies overturn weaker ones. Tradivior therefore treats conclusions as reasoned editorial assessments based on the best evidence available at the time, not as permanent declarations immune to revision.
